KNOW YOUR MIND BY PS Rathore

KNOW YOUR MIND BY PS Rathore

Value is not intrinsic; it is not in things. It is within us;

it is the way in which man reacts to the conditions
of his environment
Ludwig von Mises

In this  I will explain: How does our nervous system work? How are the nerves responsible for our behaviour? How is our behaviour shaped as per the meaning that we give to an event? An event has no meaning except the meaning that we give to it.

By changing the picture of the event, by changing the sound of the event, by changing the feeling of the event we can change the entire meaning of the event. Framing of an event means we provide a guide to the event, it provides a limit. Whatever we see, feel, and hear is anchored in our mind and body. Whenever we wish to see, listen, and feel to change our old patterns we can always get the new patterns. It would be very easy in case you are in a peak state. For example, if you met with an accident and you narrowly escaped, you will always remember that spot whenever you pass through that site. It will get anchored in your mind, body, and emotions very intensively
Our entire communication system is based on ourstate of mind and reflection of brain cells. No event has any meaning except the meaning that we give to it. In my firewalk seminar I always say that firewalk has no meaning except what we give to it actually. For some people it can be fun. Even in some parts of India walking on fire is done as a religious ritual. Once I was doing my firewalk seminar at Ghatshilla, near Jamshedpur, for the executives of Hindustan Copper Limited and on the same day it was done as a religious ritual too. Next day in all the leading newspapers both the news were covered. But the meanings to both were entirely different. Both the news came  also on the television channels, but meanings given to them here also were altogether different.

People, before attending the seminar, had a different thought process and vision towards their goals. After the seminar their approach towards their goals becomes totally different. This was absolutely corporate related and fire had actually become the anchor for shaping their future behaviour and a source of power to meet the high level of commitments.

Neurology is like a juke box. Everything gets planted  and embedded in our brain cells. Even if we have anchored something wrong in our brain, then we can reprogramme it by creating an internal talk and creating a new presentation of the event in a completely new frame. If the picture is changed, sound is changed, the feeling will automatically change.

Once, my father was involved in a legal fight with his sister’s husband. Fortunately, one day his sister’s husband called me over to his house. He showered all his love, affection, and was courteous to me. I told this to my father. Next day my father’s behaviour towards him changed and both the parties reached to an amicable settlement. So it is clear that if we change the picture, sound, and tone, then its meaning gets changed.

External change is not possible unless an internal change is done. There are techniques and tools to make internal changes. If we change the sub-modalities of the event, then the meaning of the event also getschanged.

Trait no. 4 Make Life Purposeful By PS Rathore

Trait no. 4 Make Life Purposeful By PS Rathore

The more you praise and celebrate your life

the more there is in life to celebrate.
Oprah Winfrey

Ask yourself some quality questions for shaping your destiny. It is the quality of the internal communication that decides the external destination. Every individual can become anything that he desires to be, but for that he has to ask the following quality questions to himself consistently.

• Who am I?
• Where am I?
• Why am I here?
• What do I do?
• How do I do?
•What are the ways?
• Why do I do thisin this particular way as I am doing now?
• What is my mission, vision, objective, and goal?
• What am I doing for reaching there?

Let’s not forget that, with all due respect to eachof our dreams and desires, we should work towards the betterment of our society and the progress ofour country. At any cost we should not do anything against the organisation, corporation, and countryfrom where we have earned our identity. Weall know that Vibhishana did everything for Rama butnobody today names their son Vibhishana because his workwas against his own organisation. Even though his cause was wider but history could not forgive him. So, if you work against your organisation, then nobody will respect you in the true sense. You will never receive any respect from your contemporaries.

Trait No. 3 Always Honour Your Commitment Absolutely By PS Rathore

Trait No. 3 Always Honour Your Commitment Absolutely

We have met the enemy and he is within us.
Pogo

We must work with high intensity and with a high commitment level. We can visualise our goal with proper direction and proper mindset. Our neurology has certain patterns. If these patterns are followed, then success is guaranteed. If we can provide information to our brain the way it wants, then we can see it, listen to the sound of it, and can feel it also. But for this, only visualisation is not good enough. We have to take massive action also. Our intensity to produce the fire inside will make the entire world move around us. If an individual makes a very high level of commitment to serve and to render high quality service, then he is bound to be successful in every situation. Once I was in California for attending the firewalk seminar of Tony. Around 12 o’ clock at night I went to the beach at Long beach, Los Angeles. When I was passing through the city centre while coming back, I saw that many strip clubs and night clubs were open. I was able to figure out many scantily dressed girls standing along the roadside, but nothing of that kind attracted me at the moment. I felt the importance of my wife who was alone at home in India. In the process of the seminar, Tony had reinforced to connect with people who are deeply connected with their life. The significance of my wife Manju in my life was so deep and intense that while my eyes were on the girls for a moment, my heart was with my wife. I felt the importance of her suggestions which I used to ignore earlier. I notice that we seek suggestions from everywhere all over the world, but we ignore them when they come from our near ones, specially our spouse. When I was in the trans state of mind, I realised that tears were rolling down my cheeks and my voice was quivering. I realised that my success without her would be useless. I thank Tony for uncovering the feeling which was deep inside me, but I was not aware of it. I would like to narrate another instance.

I read a wonderful interview in Hindustan Times which was about Vicky Oberoi, son of the legendary Rai Bahadur Mohan Singh Oberoi. At the age of almost 78, he was so much energetic and committed. Once he was reading a complaint of a
guest, who was from Hong Kong. He wrote a letter to the guest that he could stay for four days free of cost at any of the Oberoi Group of hotels in the world as per his own convenience. The guest was taken care of and felt that he was understood by the Chairman of the Oberoi Group. He was given a true honour. Not only this, the guest also got a refund of the entire bill amount. There is a rule at Oberoi that all the serious letters of complaint are forwarded to the Chairman. Here commitment to serve the guest is visible. The term, the “Guest is always right,” is highly practised in the Oberoi group of hotels throughout the world. Here you can feel that commitment is very strong. Vicky Oberoi feels that there is no point in being arrogant at any point of time to anybody if you are in the hospitality industry. He looks forward to deliver what he has committed to deliver. He believes in speaking silver and delivering diamond. Arrogance in hospitality industry doesn’t work. By PS Rathore

Trait 2: Visualise What You Want To Be By PS Rathore

Trait 2: Visualise What You Want To Be

The state of your life is nothing more than a reflection of your state of mind.
                                                                              Wayne Dyer

The key is to visualise the destination and not the path. Every day just visualise what you want to be and visualise that you have already achieved it. Your visualisation helps to clarify your deeds and needs. Once I was conducting a seminar in Haryana for Life Insurance Corporation of India. One of the participants, a very successful insurance consultant, came on the dais  and shared a very unique incident with everyone. He said that one of his friends wanted to buy a car of a particular brand, design, and look, but he did not have money to buy it. He always visualised that he had purchased the car. But in reality he had not bought it. After some years he earned a lot of money and became a member of the LIC Gold Club. Then, when he went to buy a car at the same showroom, the owner suggested him to buy the old model of the same car with huge discounts. Guess what happened? This was the same car that he used to visualise. It wasnot sold to any body. It was waiting for him. I f you recall the reality of your belongings, you will always feel that whatever you have was made for you. How quickly can you get it depends upon how intense your visualisation is. By PS Rathore

Trait 1: Passionate Thinking, Listening, and Doing By PS RATHORE

Trait no. 1

Passionate Thinking, Listening, And Doing

We make a living by what we get,but we make a life by what we give.
                                                                    Winston Churchill

Once upon a time a very famous king told a sculptor that he wanted to see how an idol was made from stone. The sculptor started cutting stone from all sides right in fron of the king. After some time the king asked him why was he destroying the stone? “I had asked you to construct an idol and not to destroy the entire piece of stone”, he said. The sculptor replied politely, “Sir, I do not make idols. A beautiful idol is hidden inside this piece of stone. I just have to eliminate the unwanted part of the stone and subsequently the idol will emerge.”

In all my seminars the first question that I ask is—how does change happen? By listening or by thinking or by doing? Most of the participants say by doing. Let us make one thing clear—just by taking actions or making efforts we cannot achieve the target. It will be like a rocking chair. We will act but we will remain in the same place. If listening and thinking are not involved, then making all kinds of efforts will not fetch any results. There are many people who think a lot but never take any action. I have met many people in large cities who were aware of happenings of Russian and Chinese economy but were not aware of the basic needs of their own family. How does it help an individual and a country if this discussion has no impact on their decisions? Unless you keep on thinking, listening, and congruently taking actions, nothing willchange. For shaping your destiny you have to think, listen, and act congruently. Many people spend years in thinking and do not take any actions. Even in the corporate world many companies waste a lot of time and money on meetings but they fail to translate their efforts into reality. In one of my seminars, a very senior executive came up to me and asked, “Can you get me a job where there will be some work to do rather than just attending meetings?” Such people really want to work rather than waste time in gossiping in the name of meeting. Now the question is, who will decide what is opportunity? My father used to say that every individual gets a chance at least once to show his strengths. An opportunity is a chance unless it is converted into luck by some kind of strategy. It never happens unless we start with massive action. At times we have to eliminate something to achieve and shape our destiny. Just look at this story:

This is relevant to our lives also. We also have to weed out our negative thoughts to emerge as a better person. Acting without thinking does not take us to a respectable place. We all know of Michael Jackson, once a millionaire, who died under suspicious circumstances and did not have sufficient money to  even support himself during the last days of his life. His health was failing because of his crippling addiction to pain killers and alcohol. Similarly, Mike Tyson, who was once the richest boxer, has no legendry lifestyle now. Many film stars have to resort to substance abuse just because their thinking and acting has no congruency. Once I saw on History Channel that John Belusi had to borrow money from his manager to buy drugs. He was a very successful person who died at a very early age because of drugs. I know many people who take drugs not to enjoy the pleasure, but to avoid pain and lose consciousness.

History is not a slave of any dynasty. History is always considered a respect for an individual. History is created by winning a battle, be it in the battlefield or in any aspect of life. A great thinker, listener and doer always creates history. We all know about the great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, J. F. Kennedy, Karl Marx, Mother Teresa, Abraham Lincoln, Maharana Pratap, etc.All these persons created history by performing great acts. If you ever get a chance to visit Haldi Ghati in Rajasthan, the statues of Chetak and Maharana Pratap make it clear that history is not made just by winning the battle, history can also be created by making an honest attempt to win the battle.

MEANING OF LIFE BY PS RATHORE

Discover Your Goals
 Some follow their

dreams strongly by
working towards them
and some just dream
and don’t
take any action
He was travelling in his Mercedes Benz from Chandigarh to New Delhi. It was drizzling and there was a light wind blowing. The trees on both sides of the road seemed to be dancing with the wind.  Just a day earlier this man had given a seminar for British Council in Taj Hotel, Chandigarh. While the car was moving, he started recalling the event in which everybody shook hands with him, considering themselves lucky and
expressed their joy at meeting this man personally, whom they had only seen on television earlier. How can an average person, with a cost accounting degree, having no background in psychology make a successful mark on human psychology?

How can he make every participant walk on a burning bed of fire? How can a man, who ten years ago had no money to have food, to buy clothes, who was actually fighting for survival, now help the top companies to survive in tough times? For somebody who completed his education by borrowing money from his friends, now to become a powerhouse for executives and CEOs of top business houses was a great achievement. Success does not entirely mean what I have done. This is not the benchmark of success.

Success means different things to different people, but everyone has a dream. Some follow their dreams strongly by working towards them and some just dream and don’t take any action. I always remember what the former President of India, Dr A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, had said, “Dreams are not which are seen in sleep, rather dreams are those which don’t allow you to sleep.” Life always gives you what you look for. There is a way to look at a dream and that is what exactly I teach in my seminars. I will share with you all the tools through which every individual can achieve his goals and can
reach the zenith. To be a leader it is not necessary to be born with a silver spoon in your mouth. If an individual changes his understanding of the external world with the internal thought process, then success is bound to come. One has to have an attitude to bear the pain happily and counter the challenges of life at every stage.

The day you think that you have not seen any beggar for a long time, the very next moment you will find a beggar around you. It is as if you asked the cosmic power to show you beggars. This is also known as reticular activity system. When you do an activity you find everyone is doing the same thing. Suppose you are constructing your house, you realise that many houses are being constructed at the same time. Cosmos does not discriminate whether you are from India,
China, USA, Russia, or any other country or city. In order to accomplish our goals, we should develop certain traits which have been discussed in the Next post of PS Rathore.

Today, anyone in blue jeans can form a company. We have so many shining stars on the business horizon, e.g. Bill Gates,
L. N. Mittal and Sunil Mittal, to name a few. Cosmos has same impact on everyone. We need to understand the language of the cosmic world. Life always gives us what we desire.
